Mercofood was born from Alberto Bussenius's more than 35 years of experience working for and at Carozzi Holding, where he was a key player in the group's internationalization. First, he led Carozzi's expansion into international markets; then, from Agrozzi, he opened new destinations and created the Foodservice channel, working with major chains such as McDonald's, Burger King, KFC, Pizza Hut, and Domino's in Latin America.

The Agrozzi industrial complex is located in the center of tomato and fruit production. It has 38,000 m2 of facilities in three interconnected plants for the production of tomato concentrate, concentrated fruit puree, and concentrated apple juice (AJC). It uses cutting-edge technology from Catelli in Parma, Italy. Over 200,000 tons of concentrated final product are produced per season.
